According to a recent study overweight people tend to eat less often as compared to the people with the normal body weight. But they still are taking number of calories and far less active than the normal weight people. Some normal weight adults including the ones who have lost a lot of weight do eat a lot more according to the data published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. The researches have mostly shown that the people who eat more often have a lower weight, but the reason is not known to any. Lead researcher Jessica Bachman, an assistant professor in the department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Mary wood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania also suggests the same point. Particularly she said that the ones who have lost a significant amount of kilos do manage to waive it off always.

Bachman and her team did survey about 250 people in a year and analyzed the data they collected that was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. An overweight person usually has a body mass index, BMI, between twenty four and twenty seven. Such a person is usually considered as obese. The second study revealed data about the normal weight people. Their BMI varies between 19 and 24. Half of these people had lost around 13 kilos and had been able to maintain so as well. On an average the ones with normal body weight ate around three meals and a something like two snacks each day. On the other hand the overweight group had three meals on an average and just about one snack each day. Bachman believed that snacking helps in avoiding over eating and so help in weight loss of people. The people who were able to maintain the weight loss had around 1800 calories a day as compared to the normal or obese people whose intake was around 1900 calories.
Reduce weight

Bachman said that eating the food regularly and quite often number of times in a day would help one to avoid putting on much weight. One tends to eat a lot more if the gap between two meals is long like over ten hours or so. But at the same time if snacking is done then the overeating is definitely avoided. She also found that the weight loss maintainers were much more physically active and were burning around 3000 calories in a week through the exercises and other physical activities. This was large as compared to 2000 calories a week among the normal weight people and it was only 800 for the obese. So she found that being physically active and eating more often does help in weight reduction.
